Kahu

In Hawaiian, you are not called the owner of your pet. You are their kahu. Kahu has many meanings, including guardian, protector, caregiver, and companion.

What you need to know

PawPaw

First appointment/ Veterinary clinical examination

This consists of an initial examination to assess your pet’s health status. During this time, we get to know each other, and it’s time for us to answer any questions or curiosities you may have. Also, your new family member leaves with us with all the necessary documents, including the health certificate.

Vaccinations

These are essential for ensuring the health and well-being of your puppy or kitten. For puppies, there is a vaccination schedule at 6-8-10-12 weeks, and only then can they be taken out for exploration. In the case of adults, we will see each other annually for vaccination.

Internal and external deworming

It is recommended monthly or every few months depending on the chosen substance and aims to prevent and treat internal and external parasites. We try to explain to you each time how important prevention is in this regard, so that your walks are stress-free and without unwelcome guests.

Sterilization and castration

An important aspect of responsible pet ownership is sterilization or castration. The benefits of these procedures include population control by reducing the number of abandoned animals, as well as the elimination or significant reduction of health and behavioral problems.

Depending on the patient, the veterinarian provides you with the necessary information about the procedure itself, any risks or side effects, and the recovery period.

Microchipping

This involves the identification of owned dogs, followed by the animal’s data and those of the owner being registered in a registry of owned dogs (RECS) – this is the only way Pepper can get back home if he gets lost. Each identified and registered patient receives a health certificate with a unique serial and number. For dogs leaving Romania, an international passport is issued.

Nutrition

To have a healthy pet, it is essential to focus on nutrition. Throughout the animal’s life, nutritional needs differ. The composition and recommended amount of food depend on age, size, physiological condition, activity level, and many other factors.

Commercial maintenance food has the advantage of having a known, constant, and balanced composition in nutrients: proteins, carbohydrates, and added minerals and vitamins necessary.
